I actually left Vienna at the end of 2007 to live in Berlin’s fast-forward style. Coming back to my old town always feels like a holiday—or should I say retirement.
Vienna’s most interesting asset is its slowness, its coziness—which at the same time is also it’s most dangerous aspect.
About
DJ and producer Tibcurl was born in South Africa and is based in Vienna. Her first passions, at the age of 26, were playing the bass and singing in bands imitating the likes of Primal Scream and The Velvet Underground.
At age 17, she discovered house and techno and began mixing in 1998, beginning with a six-month stay in Tokyo on an over-priced art scholarship. Upon returning to Vienna, she initiated “Electronic Resistance,” a political riot featuring Sound System Demos against the Austrian right-wing government. Two mix CD’s, Electronic Resistance and Electronic Resistance, The Jingles, were produced and featured the likes of Electric Indigo, Pulsinger & Tunakan, Tosca, Christopher Just, Bernhard Fleischmann, among others.
Tibcurl has also worked as a radio editor at ORF, Radio FM4, before starting her own Friday Club ICKE MICKE back in Vienna.
