I left Vienna as a young girl and was raised traveling across Europe, in Gstaad, Arosa, Lugano, Gran Canaria, Rome, Prague….
At 27, I returned to Vienna as a foreigner in my own city, so to to speak. I quickly realized that Vienna was my city, and I have been here ever since. I discovered what distinguishes Vienna from all other cities: it is calmer, less hectic, less melancholy, and much more comfortable than all the other cities that I have ever known. One can almost say, “Vienna has always had a sense of the art of life.”
About
The Hotel Le Méridien in Vienna and its manager Gabriela Benz are a perfect match. The art connoisseur made a conscious choice about the hotel’s design and morphic philosophy. Numerous art projects and an in-house gallery contribute to the hotel’s inspiring atmosphere. Works of art are prominently displayed in Benz’s office including pieces by Deborah Sengl and Gudrun Kampl. The hotel manager even travels on business with a small work by Erwin Ringel.
The commerce graduate speaks German, Italian, English, Spanish, French and some Russian and Czech. She has been in the hotel industry since she was 16, and has been in managerial positions for 20 years now in hotels in the Canary Islands, Prague, Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
A year after Hotel Le Méridien’s opening, Benz was voted Hotel Manager of the Year 2005.
