This section of the Museumsquartier houses a whopping list of small to mid-sized cultural groups who occupy studios, retail shops, offices, restaurants, gallery spaces, and media broadcast studios. An exhaustive description of all of quartier21’s occupants is too long to get into, but the 400 square meter space generally houses forward-leaning and experimental organizations.

Design junkies will flock towards shops like Subotron and Design Forum, while fashion victims should check out the gear at Combinat and Boutique Gegenalltag. Musiktankstelle and SRA are two organizations dedicated to distributing and archiving Austrian music. Restaurants and cafes like Kantine and MQ Daily keep Museumsquartier visitors fed and fueled for more culture vulturing.

In addition to offices of art and media companies (such as Springerin, 5uper.net, Fulbright and ImPulsTanz) and broadcast studios (Play FM net radio and Puls-4TV), quartier21 offers its own artist-in-residence program for non-Austrian artists to live and work for some time in Vienna (a studio and a scholarship are included).
