Named after Duke Alberta of the 18th century, a passionate art collector, the Albertina houses one of the world’s largest collections of graphic art (from Gothic to contemporary), a new photography collection and some 25,000 architectural drawings. Its vast collection of paintings and graphics buttress the impressive swirl of exhibitions passing through the Albertina, from Paul Klee to Van Gogh.

The building is a combination of a 17th century palais and 21st century architecture (the Albertina Flugdach was designed by Hans Hollein); it only makes sense that a museum of pictures is also worth whipping out your camera for. No wonder it attracts tourists from all over the world.Quote_transparent
