<description_plain>Founded by husband and wife team, Mario and Waltraud Mauroner, Galerie Mario Mauroner came to life in the couple's home 35 years ago in Salzburg. Their home, limited in space and scope, only had room to fit a collection of big names—Calder, Klee and Picasso, to name a few.

In 2004 the gallery moved out of their private residence to a 600 square meter space in Vienna. No longer part of the couple's living space, the gallery can now accommodate up to three different shows at once.

Galerie Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art (MAM, for short) focuses mainly on Mediterranean artists from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Slovenia. With a strong concentration on sculpture and installation, the gallery also supports artists like Tony Cragg, Madeline Berkhemer, Antoni Tapies and Imi Knoebel.</description_plain>
