Let’s face it the Viennese love to smoke. From the traditional coffee houses withe their nicotine colored walls to the smoke filled bars, smoking is part of the Viennese Gemütlichkeit. As a result it is hard to find truly smokefree bars in Vienna.

Phil is the exception that proves the rule. Smokefree since ‘07 Phil is a cafe/shop hybrid with vintage designer furniture (you can actually buy all of them) and a fine selection of books, music and arthouse dvds. Drink a großer Brauner or try the tasty sandwiches. They also got a Star Wars pinnbal machine in the backroom, so you can get your Tommy on. Every other week they host readings, intimate live concerts and a regular DJ-line on the weekend.
