The drab storefronts in this part of Leopoldstadt don’t make for destination dining—save for one shiny exception. Nordpol’s warm vibe belies its chilly name (“North Pole” in English) as does its waitstaff—it’s perhaps the only place in Austria where bohemian food is doled out by Asian fashion students. It’s also a meat-lovers paradise, all the better wash down with the good selection of beer in the outdoor garden.

Tip: Nordpol attracts large crowds, so reservations are a must for bigger parties.
