MAK - Art - Vienna

Founded in 1864 as the Imperial and Royal Austrian Museum of Art and Industry, the MAK has pursued a commitment to combining practice and theory, art and industry, production and reproduction.

When the museum was restructured and remodeled in 1986, the Museum’s original purpose was reconfirmed and expanded. Rebellious CEO Peter Noever transformed a World War II Flakturm (anti-aircraft tower) in Vienna’s Arenbergpark. The Contemporary Art Tower (CAT) will be another international center, showcasing contemporary projects.Quote_transparent
