Electronic Beats Festival

Even though Tricky released a new record, Knowle West Boy, we still think his last relevant LP was Maxinquaye. That was ten years ago. So why is he the headliner for the the Electronic Beats festival? We don’t know, but who cares—with plenty of other acts on the bill who know how to make good records we’re willing to ignore Tricky. Take Get Physical’s Booka Shade, for example, who released with The Sun & The Neon Light, a rare albums that works in the club and by fireside as well. Or our favorite singing DJ turned bandleader Erlend Öye plays with his Whitest Boy Alive project.

Gorillaz also spins out a DJ/VJ set. Despite the fact that we heartily hate Damon Albarn, we’re are still psyched about it, plus the Swedish dance dudes of Lo Fi Fnk trumps all potential downers. Advance purchase tickets are €24 or €28 at the box office.
