Mario Neugebauer’s double fascination with the arts and cars has led him down an interesting career path. Originally trained as an automobile manufacturer, Neugebauer eventually forayed into the arts, namely sound (he was responsible for breathing life back into the work of post-retired crooner Louie Austen) and visual art (with a stint as a bodybuilder somewhere in between).
His penchant for cars regularly influences his visual pieces. Abstract, languid brushstrokes of color vaguely trace outlines of various models while a mish-mash of collated objects (including car parts) highlight a division between art and functionality.
With a focus on speed and luxury goods (as the exhibition’s title suggests), Neugebauer creates worlds where the gleam of muscle cars and tire rims rival luxury handbags or watches in the status stakes.
Installations, objects and large-format paintings will be shown in a 850qm Solo Exhibition.
