\n\nAVAILABLE ONLINE FOR FREE is the first solo show of Graffiti Research L
ab\n co-founder Evan Roth. This exhibition contains new as well as past wor
k and includes pieces currently in the permanent collection of the MoMA NYC
as well as prints from the latest Jay-Z video. Driven by his motto “rele
 ase early\, often and with rap music”\, humor\, activism\, hip-hop and te
chnology are frequent themes that carry across multiple media\, including c
ustom computing hardware\, lasers\, prints and canvases. The title of the e
xhibition\, AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR FREE\, alludes to the friction between the
artist’s interest in utilizing the web as a medium for freely sharing co
ntent and ideas\, and the art world’s interest in unique objects and limi
ted editions. While many of the works created for the gallery are indeed un
ique\, they are also made available for free online in their digital form.\
n\n\n	A prominent strain of Roth’s work explores the intersection of digi
tal technology and modern graffiti. Perhaps the most well known is Laser Ta
g\, created as part of the Graffiti Research Lab\, a collaborative which ha
s been featured at the Tate Modern\, the Sundance Film Festival and Ars Ele
ctronica and currently is on display at the MoMA in New York City. Roth’s
predecessor project\, Graffiti Analysis\, is an interactive installation t
hat allows visitors to digitally explore the three dimensional animated tag
s of New York City graffiti writers. The project\, created in 2004\, is one
the first times digital technology was used in the graffiti writing commun
ity and sets the stage for what would later become the Graffiti Research La
 b. Roth’s work in graffiti has taken him all over the world\, has receive
d over 1 million Youtube views\, and has been featured in the New York Time
s\, Esquire\, Rolling Stone\, and TIME magazine.\n\n\n	AVAIALBLE ONLINE FOR
FREE is curated by Sydney Ogidan (Apocalyptic Colors)\n\n
