If you see only one in the Filmmuseum’s great series of classic screwball comedies, opt for Howard Hawks’ riotous Bringing Up Baby (1938), arguably one of the most hilarious films to come out of Hollywood.
Cary Grant plays an easily distracted paleontologist and Katharine Hepburn stars as the brusque woman who turns his world upside down—among other things, endangering his carefully reconstructed dinosaur skeleton by introducing Grant to the titular “baby” leopard.
