Electric Indigo’s concert/party tonight is part of the TanzquartierWien’s Quick Change program.
To call her the most important woman in the Austrian electronic scene would be an insult: Electric Indigo long ago reached a level where conventional gender definitions are obsolete. As a DJ, she enjoys international rank, and as a producer she¹s becoming even more influential. In the late ‘80s she listened for the first time to a record of Chicago’s DJ Rush and fell in love immediately. But after a few years of trying to spread her love for techno all over the Viennese party circuit she becomes aquainted with DJ Hell and leaves for Berlin in the early ‘90s, where she becomes the purchasing agent at legendary record store Hardwax
A lot has changed over the years. Minimal became the dominating techno sound and the love parade moved to the Ruhr area, but Electric Indigo is still one of the most important figures in the Austrian electronic scene, renowned for playing intelligent and intriguing techno-sets.
