For those struggling with weight restrictions when preparing to travel, designer Saskia Diez has just come up with the right solution for you: travelling bags made from synthetic paper. It is extremely lightweight, very robust, water- and tear-proof, 100 percent recyclable – and above all, wonderfully plain. So, the bags are predestined to become an instant success and the must-have item for the holiday season ahead.
The key to success: the material. It is called Tyvek® and enabled the designer to create a big travelling bag that weighs in at only 135g. Add a luxuriously finished surface adorned with silkscreen prints and the mundane material paper is transformed into a design masterpiece.
What is best about it, though: the bag collection, going by the obvious name of ‘papier’ (paper), is available in Vienna, already. Virtually a follow-up to a successful cooperation to do with jewellery, Saskia Diez bag collection can again be bought at be a good girl in Vienna’s Westbahnstrasse.
By the way: both these collections, bags and jewellery, won Saskia Diez some silverware at German Design Council’s annual Designpreis Deutschland.
