Sunday morning, subway station Stephansplatz, in Vienna’s first district.
Italian and Japanese tourists looking for the perfect photo-op, moody retirees having their großen Braunen at pink Kaffeehaus chain Aida, while young families and couples amble along the Kärntnerstraße.
Suddenly a man wearing a grey beanie and a red mask, with an ape character, steps out of the metro and enters the scenery.
The man is noone less than, notorious Viennese street artist, Busk 1. Omnipresent, since he started in 2001 to employ his signature/logo with the characteristic, Donkey Kong like, apes-head in every imaginable way throughout the city.
Observed by the eyes of countless passers-by, Busk gets his potrait drawn by a different kind of street artist.
While he just sits there and waits for the painting to be finished, most of the Viennese spectators have their own opinion on the action.
“Does he even speak German?”, “He’s probably too ugly to show his face” and “That’s what they call art nowadays, what a waste of time.” are among the more polite statements.
How could you possibly not love this city?
